Although, the scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort that was put in and there was still plenty of positives and valuable lessons to take from this game.
Deni came out strong, applying pressure all over the court, which made it difficult at times for us to transition the ball smoothly into attack, causing turnovers and allowing them to build momentum and extend their lead.
At times, certain umpire calls made it difficult for us to maintain consistency and play our natural game, but to our credit, we never stopped trying.
During the last quarter, we were able to get some beautiful passages of play, which highlighted what we can do.
We will regroup this week at training, and we will come out firing against Cobram.
Awards: Ruby Russell, Cassidy Reynolds.
B-grade: Finley 29 def by Deni 54.
Our team faced a tough opening round contest this week.
Despite the final score, there was lots of positives to take from the game.
Although still a disappointing result, coming off such a strong and positive preseason, we will regroup and come out firing against Cobram this week.
With a lot of new combinations out on court, we will only get stronger as the season continues.
Overall, while the result wasn’t in our favour, the game provided valuable learning opportunities.
Focusing on improving ball control under pressure, strengthening defensive and attacking communication, and maintaining consistency across all quarters will be the key areas for development in the coming weeks.

C-grade: Finley 31 def by Deni 51.
C-grade started off strong in their first match with a new-look team but due to injuries and pressure from a very strong Deni side we found it hard to adjust.
To Deni’s credit, they shot well and our defence could not shut them down, so there is definite room for improvement, and we can hopefully show that against Cobram
