Unfortunately, we went down to a strong Moama side this week. Despite the scoreline, there were many positives to take from the game.
The team worked well together to create turnovers in defence, which were rewarded by our attackers’ converting opportunities into goals.
The centre court combination was particularly effective, delivering quality ball into the goal circle, while our overall ball movement under pressure was a highlight.
We kept our heads high, continued to work on our structures and will take plenty of confidence into next week.

B-grade: Finley 30 defeated by Moama 64.
We faced a big challenge against a strong Moama side this week. The entire team showed determination and continued to work hard despite constant pressure across the court.
There were periods where we moved the ball well through transition and created some strong attacking opportunities.
Our shooters worked hard to convert chances, while our defenders continued to contest every ball and generated some excellent turnovers.
Credit must also go to our centre court players, who worked tirelessly to create options and drive the ball from defence into attack.

C-grade: Finley 18 defeated by Moama 56.
The girls got off to a fantastic start, coming out strong with some excellent passages of play.
Defensive pressure was relentless throughout the game, and the team never stopped competing.
Unfortunately, Moama proved too strong on the day. Following an injury late in the fourth quarter, the game was called early.

C-reserve: Finley 31 defeated by Moama 56.
Finley entered the game knowing they would face a tough challenge against a highly skilled and well-drilled Moama side.
The team never gave up and continued to play their game right until the final whistle, but were unable to close the gap.

Under-17s: Finley 35 defeated by Moama 49.
A slow start saw us trail by nine goals at the first break.
After regrouping, the team responded strongly and matched Moama for the remainder of the game, only losing by five goals across the final three quarters.
It was a determined fightback and an effective team effort.

Under-15s: Moama 45 defeated Finley 13.
The girls faced one of their toughest challenges of the season and showed tremendous courage, resilience, and growth throughout the game.
This week’s award winners were Marlee Simpson and Eloise Harris for their outstanding leadership on court.
Marlee’s skill and influence across the game were outstanding, while Elle led by example with her determination and strong defensive efforts.
Despite the result, the game provided valuable learning opportunities and highlighted the continued growth of this team each week.
Under-13s: Finley 1 defeated by Moama 31.
The under-13s faced a tough contest against Moama this week.
The girls kept their heads up throughout the game and never let the pressure affect their determination.
There were some excellent passages of play and plenty of positive moments to take away from the match.

Under-11s: Not scored.
This week, our team came up against a strong and well-performing Moama side.
Despite the challenge, the girls remained composed and worked hard to move the ball down the court with strong passing and teamwork.
