Jerilderie’s thirds stormed their way to their first win of the Picola & District League season, with a dominant win against Blighty on Saturday.

The Demons were far too good for the Redeyes at Blighty Recreation Reserve, recording a 77 point victory.
Jerilderie were best served by Zander Nash (one goal), Ben Coghill, Brad Aylett (one), Tom Kennedy (two), Alex A’Vard (one) and Oliver Knight (four).
Other goal scorers were Ben Kennedy (two goals), Rory Knight (one) and Dan Eldridge (one).
Full forward Harvey White kicked Blighty’s only goal for the game, proving to be a handy recruit, and Luke Learmonth had another great game off the back flank and has become a very consistent ball winner. Reilly Lynch has also improved each week showing good attack at the ball.
Other awards went to Dean McDonald, who played consistently well through the game, and Jack Michael and Michael Godfrey, who are both finding more of the ball each week.
Final score, Jerilderie 13.9 (87) to Blighty 1.4 (10).
Jerilderie had a great start with Brad Aylett giving them first use of the ball in the ruck with the onballers swooping in to push the ball forward.
Tom Kennedy was dangerous up forward kicking two early goals, while down back Adam Aylett showed great attack on the ball.
In the second term, Blighty regrouped and lifted their intensity, but the Demons continued to dominate on the scoreboard.
Young fourths player Ben Kennedy kicked an unbelievable goal while on the run from deep in the pocket, while Oliver Knight followed suit with an equally impressive goal from the same pocket.
In the second half, Blighty maintained their pressure, but struggled to score.
Jerilderie’s Ben Coghill was dangerous at both ends of the ground and Zander Nash was unstoppable, picking up possessions everywhere.
In the end, Jerilderie were too strong and had a comfortable win.
Blighty’s fourths scored a breakthrough win against Jerilderie on Saturday.
Playing in wet conditions at Blighty Recreation Reserve, the Redeyes led from start to finish to earn a 20 point victory in the Picola & District League round three clash.
The young Demons started well with Ben Kennedy lifting the team after a scoreless first term with the Demons starting to show some real attack on the ball.
Tex Flack and Nicola DiLullo worked hard in the backline with Chase Neutze being a driving force into the forward line.
Archie Boag and Lachie Wells made the most of their opportunities, kicking goals for the Demons, but unfortunately they could not catch up on the scoreboard with Blighty holding on for a good win.
Final score, Blighty 6.8 (44) to Jerilderie 4.0 (24).
Dustin Lawson was declared Blighty’s best, supported well by Logan White (one goal), Darby Watson, Lachlan Wilson, Angus Lawson and Seth Morris (one).
Blighty skipper Will Dudley led the scoring with two goals, while Nick Taylor and Toby Grimwood also chipped in with one each.
Jerilderie’s better players were Ben Kennedy (two goals), Chase Neutze, Tex Flack, Dan Eldridge, Archie Boag and Evan Lawton.
Other Dees to hit the scoreboard were Lachlan Wells and Riley Boag, with one each.Blighty coach Matt Dudley was thrilled with his side’s performance.
‘‘We started off really well again on Saturday and are improving as each week goes by,’’ he said.
‘‘The highlight was how our group in the centre controlled the play for the majority of the game.
‘‘Dustin Lawson was best on ground, rucking all day and backing up in defence when needed.
‘‘Logan White had great speed off the wing, delivering the ball into our forward line and Darby Watson and Lachie Wilson also played outstanding all day.
‘‘I was very happy with how the kids played on Saturday as a team.
‘‘They have a strong bond as a group and have all improved in the few weeks we have been playing.’’
The Blighty fifths also had a game against the Deni Auskick players as Jerilderie do not have an Under 11s side.
Although the weather was cold and it started drizzling with rain, that did not stop the young footballers from getting out there and having a cracking time.
Blighty fifths coach Sammy Rourke said the Redeyes showed good sportsmanship taking it in turns playing for Deni Auskick to make up numbers for their side.
‘‘We have picked up some new players this season who we’re excited about,’’ she said.
‘‘One of them is Jackson Tooke who played his first game. Jackson attacked the ball the whole game. I put him in the ruck and he absolutely killed it.
‘‘There was some impressive footy played on both sides with this young group of kids.
‘‘It was great to see all the boys and girls out there enjoying themselves.’’
No scores were recorded in the game. Blighty award winners were Jackson Tooke, Ollie Culton, Azaria Tidcombe, Harrison Wilson, William Frost and Mitch Bain.
