The Dees decided to break in the fresh new pitch by batting first, but disaster struck early.
Logan Eldridge departed after the first ball of the game.
For the next few overs, the Dees looked to settle the onslaught and managed to get the game back to an arm wrestle, sitting at 1/31.
Things were looking up, but it was short lived.
Tungamah grabbed another wicket, leaving the Dees at 2/31 and trying to get the runs flowing again.
Losing the big wicket of skipper Rory Knight stung as Tungamah were getting into the driver's seat.
Before the game players were instructed to protect your wicket and bat responsibly, so with that in mind Dave Hercus walked to the crease and was ready to stamp himself on the game.
Despite his confidence, he was gone the very next ball.
Brad Aylett thought he would follow suit and get bowled within the over.
Eventually Travis Lawton (29) and Cameron Arnold (21) showed the way, and guided Jerilderie to a total of 102.
After lunch it was anyone’s game.
Tungamah opened their account early and put on important runs.
But Cameron Arnold put a stop to it, claiming the first wicket.
What followed was an arm wrestle, with Tungamuh chipping away at the score but the Demons finding crucial wickets through Travis Lawton (2/24).
With the home side losing their grip on the game, Jerilderie skipper Rory Knight (4/17) stepped up with the mindset that if he can’t save the team with the bat, why not do it with the ball?
He made other Jerilderie bowlers feel bitter sweet watching a guy be good at everything related to cricket.
Before you knew it, Tungamah were down 9/92 but still with plenty of time left to catch the Demons.
The home side was trying to secure their first win at home, and were borderline screaming at anything that hit pad.
With the game on the line, the Dees threw the ball to star bowler Evan Lawton (2/19).
He stormed in, trying to put the game to bed.
A few balls in, Evan put one on the stumps, crashing into the batter’s pad.
Everyone threw their hands in the air, possibly on the verge of a riot if the finger didn’t go up.
After a couple seconds of suspense, the call was given.
You could almost hear the Titanic theme song playing in the background as the Demons won by nine runs.
