With a great start to the game, sticking to their brand of footy, the Dees were able to jump out of the blocks quickly with rain helping throughout the first half.
Tom Bryce gave the midfielders the first use of the ball as the forwards got to work with help from the midfield group, booting the first two goals for the game. The second half saw conditions dry out as the skilfull Waaia used the ball well in dry conditions.
Jerilderie’s defence held up well with Bohdi Beasley demonstrating Adam Saad-like capability and a composed Lachie Leeds utilising the ball got the game back on Jerilderie’s terms. Waaia was still coming in the last five minutes of the game as the Dees came out on top with a nail-biting and well-deserved win.
Best players: Tom Bryce, Lachie Leeds and Bohdi Beasley.
Final Score: Jerilderie 8.10 (58) defeated Waaia 5.13 (43)
The Demons’ reserves side gave its all against top-two side Waaia at the weekend.
Tex Flack was awarded best-on-ground for his hard tackles down back. Dan Eldridge held his own down back, providing plenty of run, while Andy Neesen was a strong pillar in the backline and competed well all day.
Overall it was a great effort from the Dees, especially in the third quarter where the midfield and forwards held it in our 50, only letting Waiia score the one point by the end of that quarter. Bring on next week against Berrigan.
Best players: Tex Flack, Dan Eldridge and Andy Neeson.
Final Score: Jerilderie 2.4 (16) lost to Waaia 16.12 (108)
It was a hard day for the under-17s boys only having 12 players in the side. Everyone gave it their all and it showed on the sidelines.
There was plenty of ball down forward, but the Demons struggled to get an open look at goal.
Adam Aylett again had a great game with a lot of run in the middle, alongside Dan Eldridge doing everything he could to get the ball moving forward as fast as possible.
Tex Flack again had a great game in the backline and swapping into the middle.
As the game went on the boys showed more hunger and determination for the ball.
It was a tough loss but they held their heads over it and left everything out there.
Best players: Adam Aylett, Dan Eldridge and Tex Flack.
Final Score: Jerilderie 1.1 (7) lost to Waaia 19.12 (126)
The under-14s travelled to Waaia with a very undermanned side, but Waaia helped out to field a side. Thanks Waaia for doing so and having a crack.
Being undermanned didn’t mean giving up, with everyone having a go and snagging a few great goals along the way.
Play of the day went to small forward Kye Anderson for kicking his first goal.
Best players: Jackson Pitt, Matt Dilullo and Zavier Rorato.
Final Score: Jerilderie 3.4 (22) lost to Waaia 9.7 (61)
