Matt Daniel scored a one shot victory in an exciting finish to be crowned the Finley Golf Club 2024 champion.

Daniel was leading after the first round, surrendered the lead, then took it back going into the final round on Sunday.
He finished with a four-round total of 318, sneaking home to defeat Matt Whelan on 319, with James Peck a further 12 shots away in third place on 331.
In B-grade Ryan Donkin also took a narrow lead into the final round, and held on with a four round total of 350 to win by five shots from runner-up Ian Litchfield 355, and a further four to third placegetter Simon Fuller.
Billy Smith had 373 gross to easily win C-grade from runner-up Mark Robertson 378 and Doug Smith 393.
The first round of the Junior Championship was played on Saturday.
Playing stableford, Cooper Sutton with 37 points, took a handy lead into round two, then scored a further 28 points on Sunday to win with a two-round total of 65.
The women’s championships were finalised last Wednesday.
Bobbette Wilkinson took a two shot lead into the final round and over the day increased the margin to take out the Ladies Open Division by nine strokes.
In B-grade Sue Simpson also took a two-shot lead into the final round which increased to five over the day to give her the win, and in C-grade Anne Harding held her lead from day one through to the end to win by 13 shots.

In other Finley golf over the past week, the ladies played the Marnie Pyle Podiatrist Stroke Event.
It was won by Julie Gregory with 74 net from Margot Robertson 75 c/b.
Margot also won the putting with 27 and ball competition winners were Heather Daniel 75, and Joanne Dean, Sue Simpson and Janet Delmenico on 76.
Paul Beaver with 35 points won the men’s stableford on Wednesday.

It was a smaller turnout this week for the nine hole competition on Thursday.
After countback, Rand Wilson with 18 stableford points was winner from Ian Armer who was ball comp winner.
The Ray Healey Stroke Day was played on Saturday which included May Monthly Medal for men and the Club Brooch for women.
Sharon Pyle had net 72 to win the women’s division and brooch.
Men’s A Division winner was Matt Whelan with 73 net, B Division Leo McNamara 69 net and C Division Billy Smith 73 net.
Matt Whelan’s gross score of 78 gave him the scratch medal and Leo McNamara with 69 won the net medal. Junior winner was Cooper Sutton with 37 stableford points.

Friday’s winner was Peter Shand (44-10-34), runner-up was Doug Cameron (43-7-36). John Walker won the putting with 10 and was also a ball winner (48-11.5-36.5), along with Chris Cameron (41-3-38) and Max Coburn (45-8.5-36.5).
Saturday’s winner was Doug Cameron (41-7-34), runner-up was Spike Salter (56-20-36). Spike also won the putting with 15 and ball winner was Maria McDonnell (55-18-37).
Sunday was the fourball men’s championship.
Scratch champions were Rick Bradbury and Chris Cameron, handicap winners were Joe Nicholls and Neil Graham.
Next Sunday is the Coleambally open tournament and at Berrigan there will be a stableford competition.
The next Trade Day will be Sunday, June 16, a two-person ambrose event, tee off will be at 12 noon.

Ladies played round one of the 2024 Seiters Timber Shield on Tuesday last week.
The following made it into the semi final, which was to be played yesterday: 1. Kristen Krick and Deb Arklay; 2. Jo Boake and Sue Lawson; 3. Ros Seymour and Marg Murphy; 4. Carmel Butcher and Nola Whitford.
There was also a stableford competition on the Captain’s Course.
