Jerilderie
It was an ideal week of weather for bowls and the Jerilderie greens have been buzzing, with plenty of practice happening most mornings from as early as 8am.
Thursday night social bowls continues to be a highlight of the week.
We had 26 players on the green, including three generations of the Gurciullo family, which was fantastic to see. It’s always a great social night with many laughs.
We start rolling at 6pm, then hang around for a feed of chips and Cherry Ripes before the club’s Joker Jackpot draw, which is edging close to $2,500 this week.
In pennant news, the Division 5 team led by David Woodward and Allan Valerius travelled to the fast greens of Cobram. While competitive, the team went down 50–27.
The Division 2 team, skipped by Lucy Gurciullo, Greg Collier and John Bryce, headed to Finley where the greens were in mint condition.
All three Jerilderie rinks started well, but as the day warmed up and the greens sped up, it became a real challenge to find the perfect balance between line and weight.
The rink of Lee Morris, John, Ian and Faith Bryce came away with a strong win, but Finley took the overall match 60–45.
This week the knockout stages of the Club Championships continue, and on Saturday pennant is back at home hosting Barooga and Nathalia before a bye on November 1.
