She plays club cricket for the Coleambally Nomads, when she is not playing rep competitions.
Charlie has now been selected in the under-19 female NSW Country cricket team.
She will play a series of games against NSW Metropolitan and other Australian states later in the year.
There will also be camps in Sydney for training a few times before the carnival, as well as a Country Champs carnival.
“I first heard about my selection through an email from the coach.
“I was quite thrilled that I had been chosen.
“I am most excited to play the sport I love at a high level, with some of my best friends that I have made through this sport over the years.”
Charlie began playing cricket when she was eight years old, in a local under-10s comp on a Saturday morning.
“I have played every season since and I’m loving every moment of it,” Charlie said.
She then progressed through the ages, eventually making her way into a local first grade team when she was 13.
Because Leeton no longer had any cricket available for her, she decided to make the move to Coleambally.
“I have played in the Riverina Academy since I was 11, with this year being my last,” Charlie said.
“Through the Riverina Academy I have competed at the New South Wales Country Championships every year, with my first two years being in the under-15s team.
“I then progressed to playing in both the 15s and 19s, until I was too old for the 19s.
“This year being my second year in the 19s squad.”
Charlie has also played Combined High Schools cricket for the Riverina team throughout school.
“Playing at this carnival led to my selection into the CHS All Schools teams for my last two years of high school,” she said.
“I was also part of the Riverina Bullets team this year, which successfully took out the Regional Bash at North Sydney Oval earlier in the year.”
