Coming up against a competitive opposition, our boys came out firing, dominating the first half with clean ball movement and relentless pressure.
The first and second quarters saw us build a solid lead, the third quarter, however, saw the momentum swing.
Mathoura lifted their intensity and put the pressure on.
But in true character, the Blighty boys rallied.
With the game in the balance, our seniors stood tall and responded with renewed energy with some big tackles and crucial clearances.
The fourth quarter surge sealed a well-deserved win, sparking celebrations on and off the field.
Sam Singleton, Jack Charlton, Rusty Milward and Kyel Bain stood up big while Jordy Priestley booted a bag of goals for Blighty.
Jake Rawe (two goals), Mitch Worsnop and Kurtlee Olsen were the goal-kickers for Mathoura, but the Cutters could have had many more added to that list had their aim been true.
This likely was Mathoura’s last good opportunity to pick up a win this season, as it battles three current finals sides in Jerilderie, Deniliquin Rovers and Picola United in the final three rounds.
The Cutters head to Jerilderie Recreation Reserve to face the Demons on Saturday.
Blighty goes into the final bye of the year this weekend and will give it their all in the final two games of the season.
Final score: Blighty 9.5 (59) def Mathoura 4.12 (36).
