Blighty took on Rennie in tough and spirited games

Erica Nicholls applied wonderful pressure in wing defence, creating many turnovers.

Monique Toppin and Ash Charlton worked hard putting up the goals, with the wind proving to be a different hurdle this week.

Stevie Bateman and Steph Barry continued to develop their connection in defence, working together to swap between their players and applying immense pressure.

Chelsea Weir and Meagan Lowry fed the ball into the goal shooters and worked tirelessly to bring the ball into the attacking end.

It was fabulous to see a closer game this week, and the bonds in the team continue to grow stronger.

It was a terrific game again this week.

Lillie Charlton and Ellie Caruso stepped onto the side to play their first game of the season.

Lillie showed her skills in wing attack, feeding the ball beautifully into our goal shooters.

Ellie showed off her netball skills as a goal shooter with some wonderful sneaky low passes between herself and Cody.

In defence, Maddie Weir played a great game and the team worked well to apply pressure on Rennie’s shooting side.

Emily Harvey stepped into wing defence and did a fabulous job, backing up the attacking end and applying pressure, causing Rennie to turn the ball over.

Dakini Hall and Krystle Winter worked well in the mid-court, creating passages of play.

Wonderful game by all players, with everyone deserving an award this week.

C-grade: Blighty 19 def by Rennie 49.

In a windy home game, Rennie proved too strong in the end.

But the Blighty girls never gave up and showed heart right to the final whistle.

In defence, Ruby Williams and Chook Watson were outstanding.

Chook was absolutely everywhere on court, giving her all from start to finish, and earning herself the Best on Court award – well deserved!

There was great teamwork in the mid-court from Ciara D’Aprile and Mikayla Collie, who linked the court well and kept the pressure on Rennie throughout the game.

Chris Hall was a standout in wing defence, applying great pressure and creating turnovers.

In the goal ring, the impressive partnership of Emma Brain and Rachel Bucholtz continued to shine.

Rach landed some on-point goals, keeping Blighty in the fight and lifting the team’s spirits.

Unfortunately, the girls didn’t come away with the win. But in the coach’s eyes, they win every week with their determination, improvement, and team spirit.

C-reserve: Blighty 9 def by Rennie 36.

Despite the result, Blighty had some fantastic passages of play and showed real improvement in moving the ball through the centre and down the court.

In defence, Grace Ingram and Lara Elphinstone were standouts. They were contesting and getting their hands to every ball they could.

Sarah Bain was also solid, creating space and providing consistent backup and picking up loose balls when needed.

Lauryn Bond and Grace Reid both played strong, composed games, offering excellent leadership and game sense throughout the match.

Alena Lamour continued her stellar season with the Redeyes. She was a key link moving the ball into attack and worked beautifully in the ring alongside Ali Macdonald.

Alena’s adaptability and effort all game earned her Best on Court for Blighty.

Under-17s: Blighty 38 def by Rennie 42.

Once again, our Redeyes girls stepped up and took it to fourth on the ladder Hoppers. Scores were even at quarter time.

The game was well contested throughout, but difficult for shooters in windy conditions.

Both Ash Charlton and Sammy Watson worked the ball in close to the ring, making crucial scores and combining well attacking within the ring.

We have developed so much within the last few weeks, each team member owning their position and being disciplined to their role.

The Hoppers were nervous with what the Redeyes were displaying on court.

We pushed harder at each quarter, closing the gap by five goals in the last quarter, but just couldn’t quite make the mark, going down by four.

The team morale is high, and the girls have come together impressively.

We now have a much-needed week off and will be refreshed and ready to go in round 15.

Under-15s: Blighty 21 def by Rennie 29

The Redeyes came out firing. The first quarter consisted of goal-for-goal action, finishing it off with a level score.

Moving into the second quarter, it was still neck-and-neck, and we entered half-time only down by one goal.

Unfortunately, the fatigue got the better of us.

But that doesn’t takeaway from the determination and fight each Redeye had in getting the ball.

Kyah Watson shot beautifully, working well in the ring.

Milla Bode and Savannah Bain constantly put pressure on and created many turnovers.

We all did very well and the girls should be proud.

Under-13s: Blighty 20 def Rennie 13.

Blighty under-13s continued their strong form with a commanding win over Rennie, in an impressive team performance on Saturday.

In windy conditions, both teams had numerous turnovers until Blighty finally got the first goal.

Quickly settling into the game, the attacking end created scoring opportunities, with the shooters, Ella Charlton and Indi Bain, finding the ring.

Lexi Bucholtz dominated the mid-court with excellent support from Isla Andrews, Myah Gazzara, and Georgie Butcher, linking defence to attack with quick transitions and tight marking.

Kaydnce Sibraa, once again, stepped into defence with an outstanding performance, combining with Alice Petersen to apply relentless pressure and force turnovers that allowed Blighty to extend their lead.

Rennie fought hard and showed determination, but Blighty's teamwork proved too strong on the day.

Blighty now looks ahead to their next match with confidence, hoping to continue their winning streak.

Today was a really exciting day for the under-11s as it was ‘Minis Day’ - a day all about the club's youngest players and the future of netball.

The girls participated in fun warm-ups, then played a great game against Rennie on the main court.

Everyone played fantastically, working on sticking tight with their players and finding space to call for the ball.

Carla Brown and Jewel Winter used their voices talking on the court, directing play, and picking up loose balls.

The team then enjoyed a yummy morning tea with their visiting Rennie opponents.
