The game started off hot with both teams punching blow-for-blow and each side scoring one after the other for most of the first quarter.
Jordan Bird started the game on fire. He seemed to be everywhere on the field in the first quarter, scoring numerous goals and taking impressive marks.
Josh McQualter also had a dominant first term as he patrolled his wing and racked up possessions and metres gained.
The push and pull nature continued between the two sides all the way into three quarter time where Picola had a five point lead over the Saints.
In the final quarter, Picola began to take over as they led their team to an unfortunate win over the Saints.
The stars of the Berrigan Saints were without a doubt their backline unit, headed by Grant Martin and Zeke Carruthers.
For many parts of the game the Saints defenders were under siege but remained almost impenetrable.
Complementing Grant and Zeke were terrific fearless performances from Mick Fiore and Zav Mcphee, who both get better as the season progresses.
Liam Brown impressed with his first game back after concussion protocols.
Despite his smaller stature, he is fearless and relentless in the contest continuously blasting in with head over the footy and battling hard to win his team the ball.
In the end it was an upsetting loss for the Saints, but they look to get back in the winners column next week against Deni Rovers.
Final score: Berrigan 6.4 (40) def by Picola 9.11 (65).

Reserves
The Saints were undermanned this week after a host of injuries took out some very important players.
They still gave it their absolute all with each player battling to the best of their abilities.
Jack Ardle dominated at fullback all day. With smart defensive decisions and perfect kicks out of the deep backline, he was irreplaceable and was therefore best on ground.
Levi De Bruijn played his best game of the year as his confidence continues to grow.
Levi joined the Saints this season all the way from South Africa. He has worked hard to get his skills to a level where he is an effective and important cog.
Stu Pyle led the Saints’ goal kicking with two goals this week, joined by Nick Arnold, Tommy Laporta and Rory Bartlett all with one goal apiece.
Final score: Berrigan 5.0 (30) def by Picola 10.7 (67).
Fourths
The fourths have done it again after another extremely impressive win over a very competitive Picola United side.
This brings the Fourths to an astounding nine wins and no losses for the season so far.
The Berrigan boys were once again superb in all areas of the ground, not letting their opposition register a goal for the fifth time this season.
Jordan Swann and Will Batten were electric around goals, scoring seven majors between them.
Hudson Ware and Tully Ryan also scored a goal each.
Jack Smith was important across the whole ground. He has taken his game to another level and now attacks contests with confidence.
Nick Arnold was instrumental across the back half and in the midfield showing his defensive and attacking instincts continue to grow.
Tom Baxter’s ruck efforts don’t go unnoticed either. His tap work and follow up play are both top tier.
Final score: Berrigan 9.9 (63) def Picola 0.0 (0).
