The A-grade side knew that the game against Congupna was going to be a challenging one, with both teams needing the win to stay in the running for finals.
The first time playing one another this season, it was an extremely close game throughout the whole 60 minutes and kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
The Cats came off court with a small lead at quarter time, however by the time the last quarter rolled around the teams were goal-for-goal and every turnover and centre pass needed to be converted for either team to stay in the game.
When the final whistle blew, the girls were able to walk away with a tight win.
The sheer determination and drive to get the win showed the whole game, with every player stepping up to give their all. There were multiple intercepts made and both goal ends worked tirelessly.
Holly Robinson proved a strong link into the attacking circle working hard to ensure she fought continuously to create space on court, earning her the Riverina Fresh best on court award.
Young gun Daisy Daniel again worked hard in WD putting constant pressure on her player resulting in a number of turnovers. She was awarded the Hong Loch Chinese Restaurant award.
A well deserved win for the girls this week.
B-grade: Finley 18 def by Congupna 38.
For the first time in a while, B-grade started with a full side.
Congupna started very well, converting five unanswered goals, putting pressure on our girls from the first whistle.
The scoring opportunities were limited with tall and strong Congupna defenders.
The shooters tried their hardest, having to adapt as a combination in the ring.
A midcourt swap at quarter time was beneficial, with our goalers and mids working together showing patience using the ring and re-sets, which created some depth and space.
Our other quarters were much closer on the scoreboard, but the girls just couldn’t make up the deficit from the first quarter.
Awards: BOC McNaughts Transport - Jordan Gray; Essential Hair award - Sharni Sykes.
C-grade: Finley 14 def by Congupna 49.
Another tough game for a completely different C-grade team.
The final score didn’t reflect the intensity the girls put in for four quarters.
Courtney Lunn and Sarah Bauer we’re phenomenal in defence against very strong shooters. Together they scored so many rebounds and turnovers.
Special mention to Jess Fuller who played her first game in a long time, and played like she never left.
Once again thanks to our juniors (Meg Marshall and Sarah Bauer) who continue to step up every week and help us when needed.
Awards: Kelly’s Grains Best on Court - Courtney Lunn; Finley Pilates and Clinical Myotherapy - Sarah Bauer.
C-reserve: Finley 64 def Congupna 43.
It is great to see the girls get another strong win this week, but it wasn’t as easy as the scoreline looks.
Congupna came out strong with accurate shooting and made us work for all four quarters to get the hard fought win.
All players worked hard in their positions and worked well together as team under pressure!
BOC Marshall Ag Award went to Bridget Tegart who, in her first game back for a few weeks, played brilliantly in defence.
Country Club Award went to another defender, Sasha Wood, who played her role with rebounds and tight body on body defence.

The girls went out strong from the start.
Great drives and accurate shooting from the attackers and a solid defence kept both teams on an even score throughout the entire game.
