Saints U17s unbeaten

Berrigan’s netballers finished their home and away season with two games over the past week.The week started with a catch-up game for round one between the Saints and Jerilderie at Monash Park on Wednesday evening, followed by a round six clash at Berrigan Sportsground against the Deni Rovers on Saturday.Results from Wednesday night were as follows:Under 13s - Berrigan 44 def. Jerilderie 6; Under 15s - Berrigan 38 def. Jerilderie 24; Under 17s Berrigan 64 def. Jerilderie 15.Reports from Saturday’s games against Blighty are as follows:Under 17s: Last time they met the Saints beat Deni by 10 goals and knew they had to face a strong team. Berrigan’s defenders kept the Roos to just five goals in the first quarter and four in the second.The Saints’ trio of shooters were phenomenal in the third to really put the pressure on the Rovers. With plenty of fresh legs from changes made, and solid midcourt work the Saints ended the season feeling good about the finals campaign ahead, with a perfect 6-0 heading into the semi finals.Final score, Berrigan 58 to Deni Rovers 27.Under 15s: Berrigan played well in defence and the shooters worked well together, showing that training drills are working. The Saints are looking forward to the week ahead against Blighty following a 15 goal loss.Final score, Deni Rovers 27 to Berrigan 12.Awards: Barooga Laundromat - Abby O’Connell; Berrigan Takeaway & Pizza - Emily Thompson; Kayleigh & Rossy - Kate Purtill.Essential Hair & Beauty - Regan Fox; J&D Nolan Excavation - Mackenzie Hannan; Capable Minds - Shae Fennell.Under 13s: High pressure from the Saints saw the ladder leaders a little shaken early, with the Rovers only leading by one goal at the first break. Deni increased the lead gradually to take the win beating the Saints by 10, a vast improvement from Berrigan’s 30 goal loss the last time they met. This provided a good confidence booster for the Saints U13s girls led by fast midcourt players who worked well to get around a tall Deni side. This was backed up by strong defensive play by Berrigan’s Abbey Willow and Jess O’Dwyer.Final score, Deni Rovers 26 to Berrigan 16.Awards: Berrigan Takeaway & Pizza - Miley Driscoll; Barooga Laundromat - Abbi Ferguson; Jax Wright Award - Molly Bradley.Under 11s: It was another huge improvement in a week for the junior Saints. Some passages of play made it look like the girls have been playing together for years and positive communication on court was inspiring making for proud coaches in Bec Ware and Dana Karakai.Awards: Pam’s Award - Lillianna MeyerVale; Meyerville Racing - Lucy Pyle; Cara and Dean Loats Award - Rachel Divin.The Under 13s and Under 17s will both face off against Jerilderie, while the Under 15s will take on Blighty in this Saturday’s semi finals at Berrigan.
