Last week, the Disciples Impacting This Generation For Jesus Christ (DIGJC) youth group from Sydney Wesley Mission descended on Jerilderie to run a three-day program for school age children.
The program was run at the Jerilderie Racecourse, sponsored by the Murrumbidgee Shire Council and supported by the Jerilderie Uniting Church.
This dynamic group of young selfless individuals served our community, and many children from surrounding townships, by running an exciting and a life changing program.
They not only put on a large array of fun activities like canoeing, water games, cooking, craft and many others, they also shared life lessons through creative storytelling and acts of service.
This year Riverina Youth Connect Coleambally arrived by bus each morning which was sponsored by the Benidgo Bank based in Coleambally.
The Uniting Church Hall each day was a hive of activities, where ladies gathered to prepare lunch orders for about 120 people each day.
Many ladies also contributed by cooking and donating cakes, slices, and biscuits, fruit and many other delicious treats to help provide the morning and afternoon teas.
Riverina Youth Connect Jerilderie has now formed a team of volunteers who gather each year and selflessly give of their time, energy and resources to implement this program.
This initiative is now growing and later this year, in the September school holidays, the RYC Coly team will host a three-day event in Coleambally.
Many thanks to the Jerilderie Uniting Church congregation who spent many hours preparing for and contributing financially towards this event.
The DIGJC team from Wesley Mission are continuing the legacy of John Wesley, who set up a discipleship program across England after he himself had a heartwarming experience when he encountered God.
This happened in England at a critical time in history, and led to transformation of people across the land.
Other countries at the same time, like France, descended into civil war.
England was spared from that by a group of people who shared their love for Jesus, and systematically set up programs across the United Kingdom and later the world.
It was his aim to spread the ‘Good News’ about Jesus, so people could not just learn about Jesus but experience Him.
This led to people undergoing a radical transformation in their lives, which lifted a nation out of moral decay.
This is what we need in Australia right now.
We need strong, bold leaders who will lead our nation back on the path towards truth.
Our people have sunk into moral decay, which is affecting our way of life.
As a nation, we don’t know right from wrong any more.
Jesus is our only hope to put our nation back on track.
This program has only been made possible by the many selfless people who have gathered to serve God and spread the ‘Good News’.
