The Finley Dance Group held its 2025 Annual Ball at the Finley School of Arts Hall on Friday evening, with enthusiastic dancers travelling from Albury, Corowa, Yarrawonga, Shepparton, Mathoura, Deniliquin and Cobram.

This year’s theme was a Winter Wonderland, and the hall was beautifully decorated in white and silver by Lea Toohey.

Magical music by Ian Stewart added enchantment to the enjoyment of the evening.

Members of Can Assist Finley Branch provided a delicious supper, which was enthusiastically praised by the visitors, with leftovers being sold very quickly at the end of the night.

They were also asked to choose the Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gent with this honour going to Elaine Tilley from Numurkah and George Burdan from Mulwala.

The June meeting of the Finley Garden Lovers Club was well attended with Anne Hawkins being the winner of the raffle which was a very sweet birdhouse provided by May’s winner, Anne Nolan.

Whether good karma or coincidence, Anne Nolan achieved June’s club champion exhibit with a pretty pink cyclamen in a pot, the theme of the day.

July’s meeting, which will take place on Monday, July 7, will be held at Vintage Wood’n That, 54 Banker St, Barooga at 2pm.

Rob and Sandi Hamilton are looking forward to welcoming the members and showing examples of the great work they do, creating quirky home and garden decor from recycled timber.

Members are asked to bring a plate to share and a mug, to enjoy lunch around Rob’s big wood heater. There will be no July table exhibits or judging, just a brief monthly meeting.

Routine procedures will return for the August meeting to be held at the Finley RS Club with Tracey McCluskey from Mud and Tin giving a presentation.

New members are always most welcome.

“The Finley Community Help Group has been an active supporter of Finley Regional Care over the years and has provided much needed funds that contribute to the wellness and wellbeing of our residents,” Kylie explained.

The Finley Community Help Group comprises volunteers who work in the Second Hand Shop in Endeavour St, Finley, which relies on donated goods and some items on consignment, with the funds then donated back into the community.
