“We want every single queer Victorian to know that they are welcome, supported and celebrated for being exactly who they are,” he said.

The government contributed $275,000 towards the march and $935,000 into new funding for dedicated LGBTIQ+ programs as part of its “ongoing commitment to building safe, strong and inclusive communities”.

The government has also called for applicants for the 2023 LGBTIQ+ leadership program, which will allow at least 25 leaders to build networks and develop expertise in a safe and supportive environment.

The program will also allow them to develop skills to address the unique experiences and needs of LGBTIQ+ communities in the region.

LGBTIQ+ organisations and groups can also access grants to strengthen their operation, develop inclusive practices and support their sustainability.
