The two lots of graffiti — one on the front wall and the other on the front door — were done at 2.30am on Wednesday, October 22, while police were not at the station.
Border Bridge Café in Vermont St in Barooga was also targeted the same night, with derogatory remarks also painted about police on the front wall.
Police believe the two incidents are linked.
This is not the first time the police station has been targeted recently, with a dirt bike ripping up the station’s front lawn doing a burn-out only a week or so earlier while the station was unattended.
Police believe a male was involved in that incident.
Cobram police Senior Sergeant Nathan Ractliffe labelled the behaviour, especially the graffiti, as “disrespectful”.
The person was wearing a mask while spray-painting in two different spots at the police station.
“I’m disgusted we are being targeted, considering we’re helping the community,” he said.
Both lots of graffiti were derogatory to police.
“We’re really offended by it and our community doesn’t need to see it,” Sen Sgt Ractliffe said.
He said police had clear CCTV footage of the incident at the police station and were actively seeking the person involved.
“We’re not going to tolerate that sort of behaviour from anyone,” he said.
Police believe the person who did the graffiti was a woman, and say she was “of solid build”.
She was wearing a camouflage hoodie with a large Adidas logo on it, dark-coloured leggings and white runners.
She also had on what appeared to be a white surgical dust mask.
She arrived at the police station in a metallic blue car, believed to be a Ford Focus, with alloy wheels.
“We appeal to any witnesses who might know anyone who wears that clothing or has that car,” Sen Sgt Ractliffe said.
