The community learned last week of the passing of Bruce Williams.

Bruce played at Carlton and in the 1970s, after his VFL career, came to Berrigan as captain/coach.
Under the leadership of Williams in 1970, Berrigan were runners-up to Numurkah.
In that Berrigan team were Brian Chisholm, Lindsay Dickins, Anthony Bailey, Ian Bush, George Pyle, Noel Fankhauser, Graham Ellis, Rod Petzke, Syd Dickins, Laurie Way, Stephen Way, Dennis Bush — to name just a few.
President of the club then was Frank Marsh, and Monty Woodward was the trainer.
In 1972 Berrigan made it to the semi finals against Strathmerton under Williams.
Players that year included John Brady, Gordon Fox, Laurie Way, Stephen Way, Bruce Rendell, Lindsay Dickins, George Pyle, Syd Dickins, Brian Sullivan, Ken Moar, Neil Cameron, Neil Davis, Lindsay Dickins, Peter Blake.
Sympathy is extended to the Williams family on the passing of Bruce.

This Sunday is the annual Townies v Farmers Golf Day.
The day is Ambrose. Organise your own partner for tee off at noon. All handicap and non handicap welcome.

This Saturday is the last home and away round for the Berrigan Football Netball Club, who will be hosting Tocumwal.
The club will also be holding an evening featuring a hypnotist afterwards.
All are welcome to stay after the game and enjoy a social evening.

On Wednesdays August 17 and 24, at 1.30pm, online cooking demonstrations will be presented at Berrigan Library.
These will showcase ways to save money when buying food, plus how to make kimchi — a delicious Korean vegetable pickling method. Afternoon tea and recipes will be shared.
This is being held thanks to community grant funding from Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network. Phone Alana on 5888 5180 if you wish to attend.

The Berrigan UHA Auxiliary held its AGM last Monday. All previous office bearers were returned to their positions.
Chair Marion then introduced regional rep Pam Ellerman, who gave a report on what Deniliquin’s Naponda Hospital Auxiliary (where she is a member) is involved in.
They have a shop which sells goods made by the members.
They also held two open gardens and run a monthly farmers’ market.
Berrigan UGHA then held its regular monthly meeting.
Berrigan Multipurpose Service site manager Margareet expressed her thanks for the PPE trolley, donated by the auxiliary, and advised that the health service had received a donation which went towards the enhancing of food experiences for the residents.
Margareet then explained her next wish list to the members.
The afternoon closed with Marion presenting Pam with a pot plant and thanked her for attending our meeting.

Berrigan Red Cross held a most successful stall on Friday.
Thank you to all who supported the stall and raffle.
