Ava, who is spending her exchange year in Italy, said the experience had already exceeded her expectations.
“Halfway through my Rotary Youth Exchange in Sardinia, Italy, and it has already been an unforgettable experience,” Ava said.
“I’ve had the opportunity to improve my Italian, immerse myself in a new culture, travel to some incredible places, and make lifelong friendships with amazing people from all over the world.”
Ava thanked the Tocumwal Rotary Club, her host families and everyone who had supported her throughout the journey.
“I can’t wait to see what the second half of my exchange has in store. Thank you, Tocumwal Rotary, for believing in me and helping make this incredible journey a reality.”
Meanwhile, Leah is continuing to enjoy her year in Belgium, where she has been making the most of the European summer.
“I’m making the most of the sunny weather before heading off on my upcoming adventures to London and Italy,” she said.
Leah said every day continued to bring new opportunities and experiences.
“I’m so grateful for all the incredible experiences this exchange year continues to bring.
“Every day is filled with new memories, friendships and opportunities that I’ll treasure forever.”
She also thanked the Tocumwal Rotary Club for making the exchange possible.
“Your support has allowed me to experience new cultures, grow in confidence, and create memories that will last a lifetime,” Leah said.
The Rotary Youth Exchange program gives young people the opportunity to live abroad for 12 months, attend school, experience a new culture and develop independence, confidence and lifelong international friendships.
Ava and Leah’s Tocumwal families will soon be welcoming exchange students of their own, arriving on August 1, 2026.
Margaux will be arriving from Belgium and Kotaro from Japan.
We look forward to hearing from these students as they explore our region.
