The event — a gruelling 35km walk — is held in cities across Australia and raises funds and awareness for mitochondrial disease (mito).
The duo will be travelling to Sydney to take part in the Palm Beach to Manly leg of the event on August 3, determined to make every step count in support of the cause.
Mitochondrial disease is a debilitating genetic disorder that robs the body’s cells of energy, often leading to multiple organ failure. It can strike anyone at any age, and currently there is no cure.
Donations made towards the walk go directly to the Mito Foundation to fund critical research and support services for families impacted by the disease.
The Tocumwal duo, walking under the team name ‘Annie-Mates’, is calling on the community to continue the support.
“We’ve been training regularly around Toc, and it’s lovely to have people wave us on,” Anne said.
To support their efforts, visit www.bloodylongwalk.com.au and search for their team name.
You can also drop in a donation in to the Tocumwal Post Office any time between now and August 3.
Congratulations to Sue Carn, who won the $150 Bunnings voucher from their previous fundraising raffle.

Restoration works are well under way at the Tocumwal RSL Sub-branch, with significant progress already made as part of the refurbishment of the historic building.
The project involves re-plastering the interior and re-cladding the exterior of the west wall.
As part of the updates, the old windows are being replaced with modern, tinted versions to improve both appearance and energy efficiency.
Among the more surprising discoveries was the condition of the old fireplace.
The face of the fireplace had become unstable and was subsequently dismantled, along with the hearth.
On completion of the works, the fireplace will be completely removed.
Photos taken during demolition showed scorch marks and blackened timber surrounding the old fireplace, suggesting how close the building may have come to disaster during its years of use.
Works continue to move along smoothly. The new windows are scheduled for installation, with the plasterer set to arrive next week, followed closely by the painter.
While the committee had initially hoped to reopen by June 22, the revised estimate now suggests a likely reopening date of June 29.
Members and visitors are thanked for their patience and ongoing support as the building undergoes these improvements.
Stay tuned for further updates as the Tocumwal RSL Sub-branch gets closer to welcoming the community back through its doors.
