Representatives of each class placed memorabilia in the time capsule and hopefully, many of the current students will be present for the opening scheduled for the school’s 150th anniversary.
Long term teachers at the school, Cherilyn Taig and Amanda Lyons, have been responsible for the ceremonies marking this special year and principal Owen Gill took the opportunity on Friday to thank them for their impressive organisation skills.
Mrs Taig placed the final items in the capsule including one of the current school uniforms, school magazine, school photos and much more, before the school captains, Lucy Loughridge and Thomas Cole drew a cover over the capsule which still has to be sealed and prepared for burying.
Several envelopes have been purchased and submitted by members of the community, which have also been placed in the capsule.
The teachers and students were also busy over the past few weeks gathering and donating food and toys to give to St Vincent de Paul Society for distribution to those in need over the festive season.

Just a reminder that the annual Christmas Xtravaganza will be held at Finley Railway Park this Saturday, December 20 from 5.30pm. Entry free. Those attending are asked to bring along chairs and rugs.
Proudly sponsored by the Finley Lions Club, there will be plenty of entertainment for all ages including carols, kids rides, food and drinks and, of course, a visit from Santa.
Judging of the home Christmas lights takes place tonight and the winners will be announced during the proceedings on Saturday.
This is always a great time to get together as a community; a time to put cares and worries aside, relax and enjoy each other’s company.

The local branch of St Vincent de Paul Society is well known for always assisting those in need, but more so for the care they give approaching the festive season.
Many members of the community have already responded to the appeal for donations of food and children’s toys, notably the Finley Post Office and the students and families of Finley Public School.
There is still time to help those who are struggling with the current high cost of living and donations can be left under the Christmas Tree at the Post Office or a Finley’s St Mary’s Catholic Church until tomorrow, Thursday afternoon.

Finley Regional Care Auxiliary members would like to thank all those who made the effort on a very hot day to attend the Christmas themed street stall held recently.
Despite the hot weather, the sponges, biscuits and other treats were snapped up quickly as were the decorations and gifts, resulting in about $1,500 raised to assist residents of Finley Regional Care.
The organisers would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to your continued support in 2026.
