Last Wednesday 11th June, 15-year-old Jake Stevens disappeared. He was found two days later at Steven’s Weir. Police have confirmed the cause of death as drowning.
Witnesses stated Jake was by the river with friends on the day of his disappearance. He went to take a phone call and never returned.
Upon searching the riverbank, police found his shoe on a rock, completely dry.
Footprints indicate Jake tripped and fell into the river.
Circumstances suggest it would be impossible for the shoe to be dry, let alone off his foot.
“I can’t read anymore!” I screamed.
“Hazel,” Abby gasped, her eyes wild with fear.
“Something almost exactly like this happened when we were kids!”
She was right. There had been a disappearance sixteen years ago and they had found an item of the person’s belongings on the same rock, perfectly dry.
“We should look into this,” I exclaimed.
“Why?” Abby asked.
“Because. Why did it happen again with the same conditions?”
“You can look into this - I don’t want to have to deal with it.”
“Can you at least help me find old newspapers?” I asked her.
The next day Abby helped me find Deni’s old newspapers online.
“I found it!” I screamed.
“Bye then,” Abby said.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“I told you I didn’t want to get involved. I’m going to the river.”
“Well, be careful. We don’t want another one of these incidents,” I said pointing to my screen.
“Yeah, I know. I’ll be careful. See you when I get back.”
