That’s one big Help-ing hand

Helen McRae, Judy Carmichael, Glenda Rogers and Cherilyn Taig attended the Finley Lions Club Christmas party.

The Finley Community Help Group has had a very successful year and has been able to honour its annual financial commitment to the schools, Finley Regional Care, Finley CanAssist and St Vincent de Paul, valued at over $11,000.

The 2nd Hand Shop also donated an extra $2000 to the Finley Athletics Club to assist in purchasing a trailer.

The shop is run by volunteers and has a great atmosphere for social interaction.

The group is currently seeking additional volunteers and would welcome anyone interested in becoming involved.

Further information can be obtained by contacting the shop on 5883 3112.

The members would like to wish their clients a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and express appreciation for the continued support throughout the year.

Jacob Smith was happy to show Jodie Poole where the donation of food items for Riverina Food Share could be placed at IGA.

There has been an amazing response to the request from Riverina Food Share for donations of food items and other necessities to assist those in need in the lead up to Christmas.

One or two extra items when shopping at IGA and placing them in the box at the checkout can make a huge difference anytime, but especially so during the festive season.

The organisers would like to sincerely thank those who have been so generous so far and those still to come.

Riverina Food Share is at at the Finley showgrounds each Thursday morning.

It is anticipated that the hours may be expanded in the new year.

Finley Garden Club members Mary Beattie, Pam Van Beek and Anne Lee enjoyed the Christmas luncheon.

Finley Garden Club held its final meeting for 2023 followed by a Christmas luncheon at Bernadette Gray’s garden in Finley on December 4.

A gathering of 30 ladies enjoyed a lovely meal and Christmas festivities.

The special guest was Leonie Schubert from Must Love Flowers.

Leonie brought along beautiful Christmas table arrangements and wreaths, showing her technique of decorating with flowers, proteas, Geraldton wax, gum tips and many more natives which she grows.

She kindly donated the arrangements to raffle amongst the members.

Grateful recipients were Pam Van Beek, Val Head and Dawn Walkerdon.

The ladies had an enjoyable afternoon and look forward to meeting again in the new year.

Finley Garden Club wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and happy gardening in 2024.

Meetings resume in February and are held on the first Monday of each month.

Anyone who would like to join the Gardening Club is most welcome to go along to the Finley RS Club at 2pm on meeting days.

Members of the Finley Lions Club gathered at their refurbished building at the showgrounds last week for a well earned celebration of a year’s hard work providing support where needed, and to welcome in the Christmas and new year festivities.

This group, along with many others, is a major contributor to the wonderful caring community Finley is so fortunate to have.

The members are well known for always being ready to have a chat to the locals, or to give information and directions about our great town to visitors as they sit and sell tickets in the wood raffle throughout the winter months.

President Ian and his members would like to thank everyone for the continuing support and extend best wishes for a safe Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

They look forward to catching up again in 2024.
