Tell council how you recycle – prizes up for grabs

Time is running out for Gannawarra Shire residents to complete the Residential Kerbside Reform Survey and be in the draw for one of five $50 pre-paid Mastercard vouchers.

The 10-minute survey asks residents about how they manage their general waste, recycling and green waste, and seeks community input on possible changes under Victoria’s new four-stream recycling system, including glass and food-organic bins.

Council is also exploring alternative options to standalone kerbside glass bins, including drop-off sites and recovery partnerships.

Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said the survey would help ensure waste services met the needs of the community.

“Providing a kerbside waste collection service is one of the many responsibilities of local government, which is undertaken across the Gannawarra via our contractor, Veolia, and it is important that these services cater to the needs of residents, business owners and visitors,” he said.

More than 600 residents have already taken part in the survey.

Surveys were delivered to households, with online completion also available. Residents must complete and return the survey by Thursday, March 26 to be eligible.
