The 21st annual Pink Day at Finley Golf Club is just around the corner.

It will be held on Wednesday, August 12, and is being organised by Joanne Dean with the Finley Bakery as the major sponsor.
This day came about after Joanne lost her mother to breast cancer and the event has continued to grow with many clubs from the surrounding area taking part.
The competition will be a men’s, women’s and mixed 2-person ambrose event with a 9.30am assembly for 10am shotgun start.
Entry fee is $30 per player, which includes a barbecue lunch supplied by members of Finley Lions Club.
Non-handicappers are most welcome to play or just join in the fun.
There will be plenty of novelty events including raffles, best dressed, straightest drive, nearest the pin, ball comp and much more.
Entries close Monday, August 10 or when field capacity is reached, by email to handicaps@finleygolfclub.com.au or text 0418 882 275 providing player names, Golflink numbers, non-handicap and if walking/cart.
Proceeds from the day are donated to breast cancer research, so let’s work together to make a difference.

The annual general meeting of Langunyah/Finley Red Cross was held recently with Marnie Steer elected as president, Margaret McLeod as secretary, and Val Hand as treasurer.
New members are always welcome, and more information can be obtained by those interested in joining this great group by calling 0428 839 432.
The recent raffle conducted by the members resulted in Robin Ferry winning a $100 IGA voucher.
The organisers would like to thank everyone who supported the raffle.

Can Assist Finley branch members Jill Braybon and Cherilyn Taig recently attended a Thursday night training session at the Blighty Football Netball Club to hand over a certificate of appreciation.
It was presented to vice president Al Nicholls and executive member George Reid to say thank you for the generous $2000 donation the club made to Finley Can Assist.
This donation was much appreciated as it allows the group to continue supporting local community clients on their cancer journey.

Thanks to the initiative of members of Murray Hut CWA, in conjunction with the Finley RS Club, the morning tea being held every Thursday at the RS Club is growing and developing.
It’s become an opportunity to provide a relaxed and welcoming space for people in the community, any age and gender, to enjoy some company over a cup of tea or coffee.
The Finley RS Club generously hosts the event, with club staff preparing the coffee and tea for attendees.
Participants are simply asked to make a gold coin donation to help support the initiative.
‘A Cuppa and a Chat’ takes place from 10.30am and everyone, especially newcomers to the area, are most welcome.
Those attending last Thursday’s cuppa were able to meet Deb Arklay and Annie Haberfield, Tocumwal representatives of the Trevean Foundation - a government funded registered charity dedicated to advancing the welfare of people living with disabilities, their families, and carers.
Annie and Deb gave a brief explanation of the services available to the Berrigan Shire communities.
However, a full demonstration and information session will be available to anyone attending the morning tea on Thursday, August 6 between 10am and noon.
Members of Murray Hut CWA appreciate the assistance from Finley IGA, Grant Wilson from Tuppal Dairy and the RS Club, without whose help ‘A Cuppa and a Chat’ could not take place.

A large, happy group of relatives and friends gathered at the Finley RS Club last Saturday to enjoy a lovely lunch and help Therese Thomas celebrate her 90th birthday.
Therese was born in Tocumwal on July 23, 1936, and is a member of the well known Braybon family.
She has played an important role in the community during her 90 years and has just retired as a member of the Finley RS Club Board after 23 years of service.
Among those who came together to help her celebrate such an important occasion were her brother, Bill Braybon, daughter Julie Blackburn and family, son-in-law Graeme Hendy with his children.
Others travelled from Newcastle, Gold Coast, Griffith, Leeton, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wollongong and, of course, the local area.

Students of Finley High School who started in 1971 and finished in 1976, or who attended for part of this time, are reminded of the reunion which will take place over the long weekend in October.
There will be various gatherings, culminating in a dinner at the Finley RS Club on Saturday evening, October 3.
Interest in attending has been building from ex-students around Australia and overseas.

Christine Malseed from Finley Quality Meats, who is a constant supporter, once again won last Saturday’s Lions Club wood raffle.
The volunteers selling the tickets on the day deserve a medal, as the weather was so cold and bleak.
