The national initiative encourages participants to swim laps and fundraise, with all proceeds going to batyr - an organisation delivering life‑changing mental health education to young people in schools and universities across Australia.
Organisers say the cause is vital, with stigma too often preventing young people from seeking help when they need it most.
After contributing to Laps For Life last year, the Coleambally team has shifted to a new cause.
For Splash the Stigma, who can choose to complete swim distances of 2km, 9km, 30km or a goal of your own choosing.
You can swim at any time during February to reach your goal.
Three swimmers have already signed up for the Coly team, and they’re hoping more locals will join the effort.
The pool community raised more than $23,000 last year, and organisers are optimistic of getting another strong turnout.
“Last year was really good. We had people who wouldn’t usually swim laps coming down and contributing,” coordinator Matilda Blackett said.
The Splash the Stigma challenge begins in February, and the team is now calling for sponsors, donations and new members to help boost their total.
