The Finley ladies played a nine hole stableford event, followed by luncheon and presentation, to finish the 2023 year.

Sue Simpson highlighted the day with a hole-in-one on the 11th.
After a three-way countback on 20 points, Anne Freestone came out as the day’s winner.
She was followed by Tess Dean and Janet Delmenico also on 20 points, with Marian Ayres and Sue Simpson each with 17 points being winners in the ball competition.
NTP on the 13th was Kaye Sutton, and on the 18th it was Tess Dean.
The ladies’ Wednesday competition will recommence early March 2024, however all are welcome to join the Wednesday medley competition programmed until that time.
It was Rob Singleton with 41 points who came home the winner when the men played stableford on Wednesday.
NTP on the 18th went to Trevor McCaw, and Billy’s Ball on the 6th went to Leo McNamara.
Ball competition winners were Leo McNamara on 38, Alan Hand on 37, and Barry Wilson who had 32 stableford points.
After countback on 19 stableford points, Jithu came home the winner of the nine hole competition on Thursday.
Rodger Sutton, on 19, and Colin McNamara, 18, were winners in the ball competition.
A depleted field made it to the end after the storm hit the Friday Fish Tray Competition.
John Taylor had 38 stableford points to claim the day, as well as taking out NTP on the 18th.
Ball competition winner was Martin Piggin with 34 points.
Stableford medley was played on Saturday.
Trevor McCaw, after countback on 36 points, claimed Division One and Brendan Heath had 40 to take out Division Two.
NTP on the 18th was Trevor McCaw and on the 13th it was Kellie White
Ball competition winners were Tony Smith 36, Kellie White 36, Stuart Lewis 35, Julie Gregory 35, Matt Clarke 35, and Sam Hurlston and Jacob Smith who each had 34 stableford points.
Played in conjunction with the day was the annual President v Captains team event.
For the first time since 2015, the captains team came home with a 537 to 511 win.
Sunday was the Barooga Sporties stroke medley day.
Harry Daniel, on 68 net, came home the winner.
NTP on the 18th was Rob Singleton
Ball competition winners were Jason Pyle, 72, along with Ian Armer and Jack Bunnett who each had 73 net.
Southern Riverina Veterans
The Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association December competition day was played on Monday, and celebrated with a Christmas lunch at the Finley Golf Club.
There were 96 golfers who took part.
Stableford was played and Tocumwal lefthander, Colin Holdsworth, took the A-grade trophy on 39 points.
Peter Stanbrook from Cobram/Barooga had 38 to be runner-up.
Ross Trevean from Tocumwal had 35 to win B-grade, with Ross Lacy from Cobram/Barooga runner-up with 34 on countback.
Colin Smith from Cobram/Barooga carded 38 points to take C-grade. Brian Nowell, also from Cobram, was runner-up after countback with 34.
A-grade NTP went to Steve Piggott (Cobram/Barooga), B-grade was Allan Arnold (Berrigan), C-grade went to John Walker (Berrigan), and all grades was claimed by Maxine Sadler (Cobram).
Ball competition winners were players with 28 points or better.
Tocumwal
Monday, December 4 was a scorching hot day out on the Club Tocumwal course, but 43 women still went out there in the blaring sun to compete for the women’s monthly medal.
Overall winner Julie Penny. A grade Julie Penny 73 c/b Bobette Wilkinson and Christine Spencer; B grade Susan Davies 73, r/u Denise Baldwin 75 c/b Bev Richard.
NTP: 2nd Suzanne Herbison, 8th Jo Boake, 14th Elizabeth Quick, 18th Julie Penny.
Wednesday December 6 the competition was a women’s and men’s stableford medley with 91 players on the Captain’s course.

Saturday December 9 was versus par for both the men and women on the Captain’s course.

Sunday, December 10 was the annual Christmas Cheer Day, which was a great start to the Christmas spirit at Club Tocumwal.

Berrigan
A great social day of golf was held on Saturday with lots of new and young players hitting the golf course in warm conditions.
Ambrose was the competition and the winners were Matt Whelan, Jordan Swann and Harvey Swann, runners up were John Walker and Beau Walliss. NTP went to Beau Walliss and Edwina Morgan, ball winners were Jo Cameron and Kathryn Tait, Sandy Moar and Jenny Tanner and Wayne Crew and Brett Pearson.
Don’t forget the Christmas Party this Friday night, with lots of prizes and music for all to enjoy.
Pennant Golf
Round four was played at Deniliquin, with the home ground advantage working in Deni’s favour when they met Tocumwal 1.
Deni accounted for Toc easily, 4.5 to 0.5.
Tocumwal 2 was able to take home the chocolates however, defeating FInley 3.5-1.5.
Cobram 1 defeated Corowa 4-1, and Cobram 2 defeated Yarrawonga 3-2.
Four teams are equal on six points at the top of the ladder, with match and point results the only thing splitting them.
Deniliquin lead the way with 13 matches for and seven against, 48 points for and 29 against.
Cobram 1 has 12.5 matches for and six again, and 40 points for and 31 against.
Cobram 2 come in at third with 10 matches for and 10 against, 26 points for and 38 against.
Tocumwal 1 is the fourth team on six points, with 9.5 matches for and 10.5 against and 48 points for abnd 21.5 against.
Tocumwal 2 comes in at 5th with three points, followed by Yarrawonga, Finley and then Corowa.
