The Young Street project continues to advance with significant progress made behind the scenes.
Although visible changes on Young St may seem limited, substantial work has been completed underground to lay the foundation for this exciting new development.
Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae said the new 55 lot subdivision would provide much-needed options for families and individuals and help to bridge the current gap in housing supply.
Key milestones are:
• Installation of the underground sewerage pumping station
• Completion of sewer and storm water systems
• Current installation of water mains by contractors
• Tender process underway for electrical and NBN reticulation systems
• Upcoming tender for the new trunk water main
• Surveyor scheduled to install lot boundaries soon
• Anticipated delivery of the electrical transformer by mid-August to connect power and commission the pump station.
Additionally, the proposed street names are on public exhibition. The proposed names are Helena Parade, Edwards St and Gugaa St.
The subdivision will feature solar-powered street lights, with footings already in place.
The lighting infrastructure will be installed closer to the project’s completion to ensure they are not damaged by heavy machinery working on the site.
