The speed zone changes include dropping the speed limit from 100km/h to 80km/h in three areas of one intersection.
The new speed limit will be in place on Hutsons Rd from Burma Rd to 110metres east of Nugget Fuller Drive, on Burma Rd from Babingtons Rd to 160m north of Flight Place, and on Babingtons Rd between Burma Rd and Thorburns Rd.
The speed limit will also reduce from 80km/h to 50km/h in four other places - on Hutsons Rd starting 25m east of Hannah St and stretching about 300m, on Bruce Birrel Drive from Racecourse Rd to 180m north of Bruton St, on Hunter Drive between Bruce Birrel Drive and Keogh Drive, and on Keogh Drive.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said a review of speed zones was carried out at various locations at the request of Berrigan Shire Council.
The request was in response to community concerns.
“The review recommended changes to some existing speed limits due to past crash history and increased pedestrian and cyclist movement in the area,” the spokesperson said.
“As a result, the speed zone at seven locations will be reduced with the new speed limits to take effect from Friday, June 9.”
Signs are in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions, and motorists are advised to follow the directions of signs.
