The move has not come from the Police Force, the council or the state government, but from those the appointed officer will serve and protect.
The current building is one that has well and truly served several officers in the past, with not too many blue and white ribbons hung around the place, however the time appears to have come.
And when Constable Brodie Casbum is required to serve Mathoura and surrounding residents, as well as those who live in the forest – not to mention fill-in duties in Deniliquin and Moama – he deserves a comfortable HQ to return to at the end of shift to complete his paperwork.
To support the push, you can add your signature to the petition at many local businesses and Murray River Council offices.
The petition will be available to sign until May 31.

An introduction to iPads has been provided to Mathoura Public School students of all ages.
It has come as a result of technology sessions conducted at the school by the education department’s digital learning advisor, Adam.
It is great to see the youngsters of today being given an introduction to this technology, which were not even heard of when many of us were their ages.

Good luck to the Mathoura Public School students who qualified for the Deniliquin District stage of the state Cross Country competition.
The youngsters - Charli, Chloe, Chase, Arlo, Zaria, Maudie, Bruce, Nino, Billy, Tristan, Bindi and Sophie - will travel to Deni next week to compete.
It seems the rhino has not yet retired.
