The 25 year-old is the NSW finalist in the pageant, with finals to be held in Perth in August.
In the lead-up to the finals judging in Perth, Sheridan recently travelled to Vietnam for seven days with 30 other pageant finalists.
She wore outfits provided by U-Turn, who have a number of second hand clothing fashion outlets around Sydney.
Stylist and slow fashion advocate, Jo Gambala of Sydney, styled Sheridan for the trip to Vietnam.
The other Miss Universe Australia peers were very taken with the outfits, and kept asking where the clothes were from.
They even asked if they could buy some of the unique pieces.
Sheridan has been studying ‘Global Sustainability and Politics’ at Wollongong University, which she will complete in early June.
These studies have strengthened her belief that second hand fashion is the sustainable, and far less costly, way to go to help our beautiful world beat the accumulation of textile waste which is threatening to suffocate the planet.
Sheridan has recently appeared on The Project, and with Jo Gambala on the Today Extra TV show.
Sheridan also had a two page spread in the Sydney Morning Herald on May 27, and also featured in The Age on the Monday of that week.
Media has latched onto the fact that second hand clothing has been worn in a competition which regards how one is dressed as a high priority.
