Community Organisation or Community Event of the Year – Finley Show Society
The Finley Show Society is the heart of the Finley community - a proud tradition that has celebrated rural life for over a century. More than just an event, the Finley Show is a showcase of the district’s rich agricultural heritage, local talent, and strong community spirit.
Since its inception in 1913, the Finley Show has grown into a major community event, bringing together locals and visitors alike. In 2024, the show welcomed 1500 visitors, 400 exhibitors, and more than 2000 entries across all categories. The much-anticipated sheep dog trials saw 36 competitors with 135 dogs, captivating audiences and adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of more than 75 committee members and volunteers, many of whom are second- and third-generation contributors. Their tireless efforts ensure that the showgrounds and facilities remain in top condition, not only for the annual show but for other key events like the Poultry Auction and Sheep Dog Trials.
Held annually on Father’s Day, the first Sunday in September, the Finley Show is a cherished tradition for families and individuals.
