Ruth Haynes made the move to Finley from Newcastle in November to take on the new role.
A registered nurse, Ms Haynes is trained in clinical governance, quality aged care auditing and as an adult trainer and assessor.
She has three key areas to focus on in the initial phase of her new role - upskilling people, getting people into the industry and offering traineeships as paid employment.
“We are looking to reach out and work with job service providers to give potential applicants a ‘taste of the trade’ style approach,” she said.
“There will be four main accredited units that they can do with on the job training to see if this industry is for them.
“Once they have completed the units if they find they would like to continue the credits will go towards a full qualification.”

The program will also target future school leavers, offering school based traineeships which can be a stepping stone towards university.
“We offer flexibility and have on job mentors and support who will all be working to get you an early start to your career, with a nationally recognised qualification.
