Special guest Rod Grinter, former Melbourne Football Club favourite, will share the story of his remarkable football journey — from his country footy beginnings at Katandra to playing on the big stage in Melbourne.
Grinter played 134 senior games and kick 57 goals for the Melbourne Football Club, after making his senior debut in 1985.
Renowned as a tough, determined and uncompromising footballer, he became a memorable part of the Demons through the late 1980s and early ’90s and was a member of Melbourne's 1988 VFL grand final side.
His football journey didn't end in Melbourne.
After his senior playing career, Grinter captained Melbourne's reserves in 1995 before heading to Tasmania, where he captain-coached New Norfolk from 1996 to 1998.
He then returned home to Katandra West and helped the club claim a premiership in 1998 — bringing his football story full circle.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local footy fans to hear firsthand from one of the region's own who made it all the way to the VFL/AFL stage.
