Her first stop was at the Finley MenShed where the presentation was made to president Gavin Butcher.
Mrs Dalton acknowledged the importance of this organisation and how much the group has accomplished since its inception in 2010.
“Today I would like to recognise and congratulate members of the Finley MenShed for their significant service contribution to the health and wellbeing of their local community,” she said.
She went on to explain how the group has expanded over the years, from raising enough funds to buy the land on which it is situated to being able to contribute generously to other organisations, including the local second hand shop.
As the group has now extended membership to women, it is truly a great asset to all, both mentally and physically.
Mrs Dalton was particularly interested in the above ground garden beds constructed at the MenShed and was happy to receive a quick lesson.
Then it was on to the Finley High School where Mrs Dalton presented Community Recognition Statements to teachers, students and others for their invaluable contribution to public education.
Veronica McNaught, Robyn O’Leary, Michelle Archinal, Michael O’Leary, Sally Marsden, Nicole Close, Aileen Begbie, Di Section, and Jacqui O’Brien were recognised for their exemplified unwavering commitment by devoting thirty or more years to the profession of teaching.
“Their enduring passion has not only shaped young minds but also served as an inspiration to their colleagues and the wider community” Mrs Dalton said.
“I would also like to congratulate Year 11 student Claire Ingram, teacher Jenny Philpot, student support officer Jodi Brown and P&C president Paul Jones for their well deserved special director awards.”
Finley High School principal Jeff Ward thanked Mrs Dalton for taking the time to make the presentations personally and for showing such an interest in the school.

Many residents of Finley Regional Care took advantage of the sunshine to attend the fair held in the grounds last Saturday.
Marie Quirk’s son Garry and his wife Colleen made a special outing of the fair to include celebrations of Marie’s 95th birthday the following day.
The organisers were delighted with the success of the event and are already planning next year’s fair.
Several hobbyists took up the offer of stall sites with the result of a vast display of craft and artwork.
And, of course, the auxiliary ladies held up their well-known cooking reputation with a wonderful array of cakes, slices, biscuits and other culinary delights.
Funds raised by events such as this are used to supply extra facilities to provide for the comfort and treatment of the residents.
Winner of the Finley Regional Care raffle of a beautiful quilt was Kelly Burke, and the CanAssist Finley Branch raffle of a salt lamp was won by Lyn Burgmans.

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, members of the community are advised that the Finley RSL Sub-branch will once again be located outside Finley IGA selling poppies, badges, pens and other memorabilia in the week leading up to this special day.
The volunteers will also be circulating in the CBD so please take advantage of the opportunity to support this worthy cause.
All funds raised remain in our local community to assist current and past veterans and their families.
The sub-branch will also be conducting a street stall on Friday, November 10 and donations of cakes, slices, garden plants and other saleable items would be very much appreciated.
Also, the community is reminded that the commemoration service for Remembrance Day will take place at the Finley Memorial Park on November 11 at 11am.
