Parishioners of St Joseph’s Catholic Church joined celebrations for the First Holy Communion of four young students, and a special blessing for another, at the 8.30am Mass on Sunday.
Father Prasanth gave a warm welcome to families and friends, and with singing led by Ben Stonnill, accompanied by Loretta Walker on violin, and Terry Westblade on guitar, it was a happy occasion.
Before the end of Mass, acting principal Terry Westblade presented the children with certificates to mark the occasion.

Mandy Catena has been appointed as acting principal at St Joseph’s Catholic School, Jerilderie, for the remainder of 2025.
This is Mandy’s second round in that position, and one in which she will feel quite at home.
Mandy, who is also principal at Coleambally, will move between the two schools, with the help of an assistant principal in Jerilderie, yet to be appointed.
Terry Westblade will finish his brief tenure as acting principal at St Joseph’s at the end of this term, and will no doubt be happy to get home to Wollongong.

The community was saddened to learn of the recent death of Ken Sutton, and our thoughts are with Vicki and her family at this time.
A graveside service celebrating Ken’s life was held at the Jerilderie cemetery on Friday morning.
The death has also been noted of former Jerilderie resident, Judy Taylor, who died recently in Queensland.
She moved there some years ago to be nearer to family members.
Sympathy is extended to her family and friends.
Sympathy is also extended to Keith Roe following the recent death of his sister Wendy.
