•A 65-year-old Yarrawonga male was intercepted at the PBT site on Melbourne St, Mulwala at 8.30PM on February 27. He then produced a positive PBT at the Yarrawonga Police Station where he furnished a reading on the EBT of 0.101.
A $786 Infringement notice was issued, and his drivers license was cancelled and disqualified for 10 months. He was issued with an immediate driving suspension.
•Yarrawonga police intercepted a 39-year-old Yarrawonga male driving in Zorro Drive on February 27 at 11PM with a check on his driver’s license revealing he is a disqualified driver. As a result his vehicle was impounded, and the male will be summoned to court for disqualified driving.
•A 58-year-old female from Mulwala was intercepted at a PBT (preliminary breath test) site on Irvine Parade at 6.10pm on February 28 where she provided a positive PBT. Back at the Yarrawonga Police Station she produced an EBT reading of 0.067. She was issued with an Infringement Notice for $555 and her drivers license was cancelled and disqualified for three months.
•A 24-year-old Yarrawonga male was intercepted in Dunlop Street at approximately 7.30pm on March 3 due to his vehicle registration being cancelled.
A check on his driver’s license revealed he was a Disqualified driver and the male then furnished a positive PBT. He accompanied police for an EBT where he furnished a reading of 0.090.
The male was also in possession of a small amount of Cannabis. He will be summoned to attend court for Disqualified Driving, Drive in Excess of the Prescribed Limit, Drive unregistered and Possess Cannabis. Police also impounded the male’s vehicle.
•Police intercepted a male driving in Jane Road at 12.30am on March 4 where he produced a positive PBT. He accompanied police back to the Yarrawonga police station where he provided a further reading on the EBT of 0.087. He was issued with a $555 infringement notice and his drivers license will be disqualified and cancelled for a six-month period.
•A vehicle was intercepted on Telford Street at approximately 8.30pm on March 5 at with police finding the 44-year-old Melbourne male was driving on an expired drivers license.
He then produced a positive Preliminary Oral Fluid Test before agreeing to accompany police for a further Oral Fluid Test at the Yarrawonga Police Station where he produced a positive result for both Methamphetamines and Cannabis.
He was issued with an immediate driving ban, an Infringement Notice for unlicensed driving and he will be summoned to appear at court for Drug Driving.
Traffic Collision
Yarrawonga Police, CFA and Paramedics attended a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Piper and Hume Streets around 11:45am on March 4.
A vehicle travelling north with a single occupant, a 55-year-old Tungamah female driver, failed to slow and give way at the Piper Street intersection causing her to collide with another vehicle containing two Yarrawonga occupants.
All three occupants involved in the collision were transported to Yarrawonga Health with minor injuries and for observations. The 55-year-old driver was issued an Infringement notice for failing to give way.
Yacht Club theft
A burglary occurred at the Yacht Club on River Road at around 3.30am on Sunday, February 26 where offenders entered the premises stealing alcohol and other items including the head of the Dragon Boat. Cobram Detectives are currently investigating.
Anger over denied free food
A male attended a Belmore Street premises wanting free food at 1am on Sunday, March 5.
When the request was denied, the male has picked up a chair and smashed the front window of the business.
Yarrawonga Police have obtained CCTV and making enquiries with the male’s identification.
Tragic farming death
A male sustained life-threatening injuries following a farming incident in Yarrawonga South on February 28.
He was working at a Benalla-Yarrawonga Road business when he fell and hit his head at about 11.30am.
The male was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition and very sadly passed away the following evening. The incident is being investigated by Worksafe and Police.
