A group of local soccer enthusiasts have come together to get a community soccer group up and running.

Tocumwal United Football Club has come to life after Michael Osbourne began running free after school soccer training sessions at Tocumwal Public School.
The sessions quickly gained support and momentum with around 20 children attending each lesson who were all eager to learn and play.
Michael has started getting messages from families in surrounding towns such as Finley looking for somewhere for their kids to play, and decided to push forward with the establishment of Tocumwal United FC.
The group’s first community information session will be held at the Tattersalls Hotel on Sunday, August 23 at 3pm.
Players, parents, potential coaches, volunteers and sponsors from the surrounding area are welcome to attend.
Michael has created a Facebook page for Tocumwal United FC which he encourages our community to follow and share with friends and family to get the support this group needs to flourish.

Students from the Kindergarten Room at Tocumwal Public School recently celebrated 100 days of primary school.
The class swapped their uniforms for costumes as they dressed up as 100 year-olds and spent the day aided by walking sticks, fixing their pearls and adjusting their hair rollers.
Students were heard complaining of back pain with lots of laughter from their school community.
To add to the celebrations, the children watched the ‘Grannies’ episode of Bluey, created portraits of what they might look like in 100 years and made fairy bread covered in sprinkles.

Tocumwal has had some little locals turn into sporting stars recently, with Patrick Taylor and Mila Saraikin shining on the football field and netball court.
Mila was selected as part of the Riverina primary netball team earlier in the year after some tough trials. This selection in itself is a fantastic achievement and opportunity.
Mila then went on to represent the Riverina at the 2026 NSWPSSA Netball Championships at Olympic Park in Sydney on July 29-31.
She was vote Players’ Player by her teammates, who describe Mila as always being supportive and encouraging, and bringing a smile and positive attitude to each game.
Meanwhile, Patrick was among the up and coming footy stars from Tocumwal Football Netball Club who played in the Cobram and District Junior Football League final on Friday, August 7.
The match was played against the Cobram Tigers at Tocumwal’s home ground.
The Bloods came away runners-up in a fantastic effort.
Well done to all the players involved, and to the parents and coaches who spent their Friday nights supporting the team.
A special congratulations to Patrick Taylor, who was voted best and fairest runner-up across the whole under-12 league.

Tocumwal Lions Club held a street stall last week to support the Railway Heritage Museum.
Congratulations to the winners of the raffle. First prize, donated by Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, was won by Dave Downie and Victoria Kennedy won the hamper from March's IGA.
The next train will be visiting Tocumwal on Saturday, August 22, arriving at 12.30pm.

The Tocumwal Railway Heritage Museum team is also back open after the winter hiatus and will be open each Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Entry is $5 per adult and children are free.

Tocumwal Lions Club sends its best wishes to Elayna Ring and Lenny Cardillo who will be competing at the Lions Junior Public Speaking Competition Regional Final in Finley this Sunday, August 16.
Elayna and Lenny will be competing in the Years 3/4 and 5/6 divisions respectively.
on the topics ‘If you could go on a holiday anywhere in Australia, where would you go and why?’ and ‘If you could have dinner with anyone in the world (a real person past or present), who would it be, and why, and what would you serve them for dinner?’
Elayna’s speech focuses on Yungblud and Lenny’s holiday destination speech is on Sydney.
The final level of the competition will then be held at Yarrawonga on August 30.

The Tocumwal Pool Committee will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, August 24 at 6pm at the Terminus Hotel.
The current committee would love to see some new faces in support of our local pool. The team really needs community support to get fresh ideas and perspectives on how to keep the pool going.
