She joined the school during NSW Public Education Week, and was in attendance when the Variety Bash Queensland Rally visited the school last week.
While Mrs Keech is not new to the Riverina region, this is her first appointment as a principal.
And she said she has been humbled by the warm welcome from students, staff, parents, and the wider community.
“Starting during Education Week was the perfect introduction," she said.
“It highlighted the incredible opportunities and sense of belonging that JPS offers.
“I’ve worked in the Riverina since 2014 across a range of local schools, and I’m already impressed by the enthusiasm of the students, the dedication of the staff, and the support from families and the community.
“They deliver quality education alongside the unique sense of belonging that only a small school community can offer.”
Mrs Keech comes to Jerilderie from nearby Berrigan Public School.
She has also taught at Mulwala, Barooga PS, and Tocumwal Public Schools since coming to the Riverina.
“I have been teaching for 15 years, and the best thing is being able to support students as they navigate their learning, have failures and successes and help them to become their best selves.
“(My aim at Jerilderie) is to promote how fantastic our school is, and the opportunities that public education provides.
“JPS is in an incredible location, we have the most brilliant country kids and amazing resources for a small school.”
While the Riverina has been home to Mrs Keech for 11 years, she is originally from the Mid North Coast of NSW.
“I refer to myself as a ‘Coastie’,” she said.
“I am a blue water girl, but have acclimatised quite quickly to the Murray River lifestyle.”
