Raymond Mackenzie heads into the festive season with a new, official descriptor - Aussie.
Mr Mackenzie was welcomed as an Australian citizen following a formal ceremony at Darlington Point last week.
Mayor Ruth McRae OAM officiated the ceremony on behalf of Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, the Honourable Tony Burke MP.
Family, friends and council staff were present to mark the incredible journey.
Cr McRae said it was wonderful to be part of such a special milestone for our newest Australian citizen.
“We celebrate not only Mr Mackenzie’s commitment to Australia, but also the richness he brings to our community through his diverse background and experiences,” Cr McRae said.
The ceremony was conducted in accordance with the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and the Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Code.
