Naponda has committed $93,000 from its funding program to the hospital.
Chris Hayes, who is president of the volunteer organisation, said such a large contribution is only possible because of the commitment of the volunteers.
“You people have done that,” he said to the volunteers gathered at the donation handover.
“It is a magnificent effort.”
Mr Hayes said the funding has been accumulated through a variety of fundraising events, but largely the Naponda Store, Naponda Farmers’ Markets and Naponda’s open garden event.
Formed in May 1970, the primary aim of the Naponda Hospital Auxiliary is to fund items for the comfort and treatment of patients that is commonly not covered by government funding.
In accepting the donation last week, Deniliquin Hospital cluster manager Craig McColm said the nature of government funding is that it never goes as far as it needs to.
“The budget is never there, and we simply would not have these niceties without you and your help,” he told the Naponda volunteers.
“Being here (to accept the donation) is also our chance to give our heartfelt and sincere thanks.”
Ginny Lange, who has been Deniliquin Hospital facility manager since 2016, said the work by Naponda is welcomed by staff and users of the hospital alike.
“You are an amazing group of people, and the equipment given to the hospital through Naponda has improved the quality of care and service we can provide for the community,” she said.
Mrs Lange said she is working on a project which will acknowledge the work of Naponda, and the items it has provided to the hospital.
This will be displayed in a public area of the hospital once finalised.
