Both positions were filled unopposed, ensuring continuity as council progresses major projects, advocates on behalf of its communities and works toward the priorities outlined in its Community Strategic Plan.
Cr McRae said she was honoured to have the support of her fellow councillors for another two-year term.
“Both Cr Black and I are proud and privileged to continue leading Murrumbidgee Council,” she said.
“We have a strong foundation to build on, with important projects underway and opportunities ahead for our communities.
“We look forward to working alongside councillors, the local community, council staff, regional partners and stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes across the Murrumbidgee area.”
Cr McRae has served as mayor since the establishment of Murrumbidgee Council in September 2017.
Her local government career began with the former Jerilderie Shire Council, to which she was elected in 2004. She served as deputy mayor from 2007 to 2014 before becoming mayor in 2014, a position she held until the council amalgamation.
In 2023, Cr McRae was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of her service to local government and the community.
Cr Black said he looked forward to continuing to work alongside his fellow councillors.
“Cr McRae and I have worked together as mayor and deputy mayor since the establishment of Murrumbidgee Council, and over that time we have developed a strong and effective working relationship," he said.
“We have a good team and are committed to working transparently with our fellow Councillors and the community to make informed decisions and deliver positive outcomes for our residents.”
This two-year term for the mayor and deputy mayor will see the council through to the 2028 councillor elections.
