There will be a mix of cultural experiences, water fun, creative activities and local ceremonies.
Events will be held across all three towns on Sunday, followed by official ceremonies and celebrations on Australia Day itself.
Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said the program offers something for all ages and interests, inviting residents and visitors to take part.
“Australia Day is an important time for reflection as well as celebration,” she said.
“It is a day to recognise the contributions of those who have helped shape our communities and celebrate what it means to be an Australian today.
“Across the weekend, there are many activities where locals and visitors can get involved, enjoy our wonderful area and spend time together.”
Monday’s official ceremonies start with a free breakfast from 8am at the Coleambally Community Hall in Kingfisher Ave, with presentation of awards and live entertainment also on offer.
The Darlington Point ceremony will begin at midday with a free barbecue lunch. The venue has been moved to the Murrumbidgee SHire Hall in McAllister St due to the heat forecast.
Awards and live entertainment will also be on offer.
Murrumbidgee Council organised ceremonies will conclude with the twilight ceremony at Jerilderie’s Luke Park from 6.30pm.
There will be free entertainment, awards presentations. The traditional fireworks will not be held due to the heat warning in place.
Food will be available for purchase.
Murrumbidgee Council’s Australia Day ambassador Geoff Coombes will attend the Colembally and Darlington Point celebrations.
“His dedication to community, wellbeing and supporting causes that matter is truly inspiring,” Cr McRae said.
“We look forward to welcoming him to our events and hearing his message about how we can all make a positive difference.”
