The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) launched the tour at Flemington Racecourse, announcing an international journey that will take the esteemed Cup from New York, through regional Australia and back to its home city of Melbourne.
By the time the famous trophy makes its way to Berrigan in October, it will have already travelled to 28 destinations.
It is not the first time the cup has been in the region, having visited Rochester last year and Echuca in 2022, however it will be its first time in Berrigan.
The tour aims to bring a taste of the Melbourne Cup to communities all over Australia, and more recently, the world.
“It's an incredible opportunity for locals to get up close to the Cup and be part of Australia's most celebrated racing tradition,” a Berrigan Race Club spokesperson said.
The Cup will visit Berrigan on Sunday, October 5, where it will be displayed at the Berrigan Agricultural Show.
The Berrigan Race Club will be present to share information about the club's history and upcoming events.
An evening dinner featuring guest speakers will also be held, with details yet to be confirmed.
As a Melbourne Cup tour host, Berrigan will also be added to the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour National Sweep.
This exciting opportunity sees 24 regional towns compete for $50,000 to donate to their chosen charity.
