The NSW Minister for Health, Regional Health, the Illawarra and the South Coast, Ryan Park, approved the appointment under Section 20 of the Health Administration Act 1982 for a term of three years.
Cr Cornwell-McKean’s appointment is warmly welcomed, and Berrigan Shire Council has congratulated her on this important achievement.
As a passionate advocate for regional health improvement, Cr Cornwell-McKean has represented Berrigan Shire and the Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation at parliamentary committee hearings, ministerial and parliamentarian briefings and in mainstream and local media.
This important appointment will allow Cr Cornwell-McKean to continue to prosecute the case for health equity in regional NSW and to ensure that regional communities receive their fair share of infrastructure, support and funding.
Cr Cornwell-McKean said she was honoured to have been recognised and chosen for this important role.
“The opportunity to directly influence critical health policy which impacts upon our communities is a role I will continue to dedicate myself to as I strive to ensure that regional communities get the health care they deserve,” she said.
