“Joshua, son of Nun, and Caleb, son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, ‘The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us’.” (Numbers 14: 6-8 NIV).
When the 10 spies entered the promised land to check it out, all except Joshua and Caleb brought back an evil report.
The others all looked at the giants in the land and decided it was far too dangerous a place to enter.
Joshua and Caleb, however, were not afraid of the giants.
They kept their eyes on the promise that God had given them, that this land that was filled with milk and honey and was to be their new homeland.
The lesson we can learn from this is that if God gives us a dream or a promise, then just like Joshua and Caleb we can trust that God will help us to overcome all the obstacles that stand in our way.
Instead of looking at the problems in front of us, we should set our eyes on the promise and the ‘promiser’.
Don’t magnify the giants in your life. There is nothing that God can’t deliver us from if we anchor our trust in Him.
