In addition to awarding a Junior Citizen of the Year in each of its towns, Jerilderie presents the Little Aussie Awards.
Citations for this year’s recipients are as follows:
St Joseph's Primary School - Milla Rorato
Milla is a compassionate and caring student, who leads by example, ensuring the school is a welcoming and inclusive place for all students.
In the classroom, she always gives her best effort, approaching every responsibility with dedication, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
She embraces opportunities to grow academically, and demonstrates resilience and determination, making her a role model for her peers.
Highly talented in sport and achieving remarkable success in 2025, she represented the school at the MacKillop State level in both swimming and running and progressed to round two of the MacKillop netball trials.
She represents the school at Anzac Day services and enjoys visits with the elderly residents at the Jerilderie MPS, bringing joy and connection to their day.
Outside of school, she is very involved in the local community, and is a committed netballer, demonstrating teamwork, integrity and sportsmanship on and off the court. She has also filled in for the fourths when they have been short on players.
Year 5/6 classroom teacher, Mrs Marshall, believes this student “has demonstrated herself to be an extraordinary young leader, and is confident she will continue to contribute greatly to her community in the years to come”.
Jerilderie Public School - Amity Ewert
As school captain in 2025, Amity led with kindness, respect and integrity.
She sets a positive example for her peers by always striving to do her best in every aspect of school life, be it resilience, sport or community involvement.
Polite and considerate, she makes herself approachable.
Always supportive of her classmates, she contributes to a positive and inclusive school environment.
Her genuine kindness and empathy, and her commitment to excellence, combined with her natural ability to inspire and include others, truly makes her a standout role model.
She is well respected by both students and staff.
Principal Laura Keech said her “achievements and outstanding character and leadership enrich our school community every day”.
