Rutherglen SES’s highly valued and longest serving member Irene Cracknell OAM received and Emergency Services Medal for distinguished service as a member of an Australian emergency service.
The medal recognises the outstanding service by Irene, who was the first active female member of the Victoria SES Rutherglen Unit service, which commenced 43 years ago.
In 43 years of dedicated service, Irene has held various roles, including unit controller from 1998 to 2002 and 2019 to 2023, and deputy controller from 2002 to 2019.
Every good team must have a good leader and Rutherglen’s SES Unit had that excellent leadership in Irene Cracknell OAM ESM who is also a JP.
Today’s Rutherglen SES controller, Darren Trevaskis described Irene as “an incredible woman who does so much for the community and has given such wonderful service over 40 years”.
“Congratulations to Irene on achieving the highest accolade in our sector’s honours. You have every right to be proud to wear your medal,” Mr Trevaskis said.
