Work to deliver the $25 million Finley Health Service Redevelopment is a step closer with the main works contractor appointed yesterday.

Construction firm Barpa has been engaged following a competitive tender process with site establishment work expected to start on site in the coming months and major construction expected to begin late this year.
The NSW Government is investing $25 million in the Finley Health Service to deliver an improved patient-focused health service and enhanced models of care across all existing services.
It will include new and refurbished clinical spaces to support the health needs of local communities in Finley, Berrigan, Barooga, Tocumwal and Jerilderie.
The hospital design has been informed by extensive feedback and consultation with health professionals, staff, patients, Aboriginal community representatives and the Local Health Advisory Committee.
The design for the project is being finalised and will include:
• New inpatient rooms
• Upgraded medical imaging unit including a new ultrasound service
• Upgrades to the Emergency Department
• Expanded reception area
• Essential service upgrades including IT to provide a better-connected health service; and
• Improved staff facilities.
NSW Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said the expanded and upgraded range of health services will give residents access to enhanced healthcare facilities closer to home.
“This builds on the recent delivery of new key worker accommodation in Finley which is providing healthcare professionals with a modern, safe and comfortable place to live which is close to work,” he said.
Six new key worker accommodation units have been provided in Finley, delivered under the NSW Government’s $45.3 million Key Worker Accommodation (KWA) Program.
The Minns Labor Government committed an additional $200.1 million to increase key health worker accommodation across rural and regional areas of the state as part of the 2024-25 NSW Budget.
As part of this, Murrumbidgee Local Health District will be allocated $23 million to deliver similar housing for healthcare workers in Griffith, Deniliquin and Lake Cargelligo.
NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton said as we get one step closer to a new health service in Finley, it is welcome news that the government is boosting its investment in rural healthcare services and infrastructure.
“I support all efforts to address shortcomings in remote, rural and regional communities and hope key worker accommodation units will be an opportunity to fill desperately needed vacant health care positions providing improved healthcare services in the greater Finley area,” she said.
“It is essential that health in rural and remote New South Wales is not neglected and people in the bush receive the same level of care as their city cousins, many communities are currently begging for quality health services, and this is a step in the right direction.”
