There has been an exhaustive amount of social media waffle or hogwash recently in the medical arena.
Unfortunately, it has taken a vindictive and malicious form whereby individuals are now being singled out and attacked.
Social media is a platform those with an agenda utilise with confidence, that there will be no fact checks, which is my reason to opt for this platform where a good journalist will fact check my statements.
I totally refute the social media comments made by Albert and Lourene Liebenberg, and invite them to an arena where they can be fact checked and dealt with in the manner they deserve.
Their comments, taken out of context, were designed to cause division.
I do not have time in my life for such petty distractions.
My focus and long-term advocacy in health is on creating a better health service across the board, so our people are not travelling long distance for basic services that should never have been removed.
I encourage the Liebenbergs to get on board, embrace change, cease arguing and creating uncertainty.
The focus should not be on encouraging negativity and fear, it should be on the future not the past.
Collectively, by working harmoniously together, we have an obligation to community to improve on any areas that might need help.
To all Deniliquin health and allied workers; I have had your back for 15 years, during which you have outperformed and excelled in keeping us alive while sometimes our tired old hospital, its allied services and equipment didn’t keep up.
You are all my heroes.
I salute you and I will continue to advocate for you into the future, no matter who it irritates or offends.
To the Liebenbergs - Lead, follow or just get out of the way.
Yours etc.
Shirlee Burge
